Just asking a question here.

From the "Birthday Book" it is obvious that most of Epstein's friends knew all about what he was doing. So it does raise the question of why so many powerful, wealthy, and presumably intelligent people thought it was okay to pal around with a pedophile? I mean, even convicts know that pedophiles are bad people and shun them.

The WSJ has gotten the Epstein/Maxwell yahoo email account

"Epstein’s personal Yahoo account was turned over to Bloomberg News, including hundreds of previously unreported emails.
'...hundreds of emails from Epstein’s personal Yahoo account, which haven’t been previously reported, shed new light on Maxwell’s partnership with Epstein. They also contribute to longstanding questions about her credibility, including her truthfulness in a two-day interview she had with officials from the Department of Justice this summer. (Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after a jury found in 2021 that she recruited and groomed women for Epstein to sexually abuse.)
The emails, part of a cache of more than 18,000 obtained by Bloomberg News, show that Maxwell and Epstein were closer, in many respects, than either publicly admitted. Maxwell opened at least one foreign bank account using one of his addresses, was a named director on one of Epstein’s main revenue-generating companies and traded stock in a company they were both invested in, details that haven’t been previously reported. The pair discussed undergoing a shared fertility procedure, long after Maxwell claims she largely disassociated from him. They corresponded about discrediting women who raised allegations against them, including in one exchange where Maxwell said she planned to circulate compromising information on one of Epstein’s sexual-abuse victims.
...The emails include a spreadsheet itemizing nearly 2,000 gifts, luxury items and payments totaling $1.8 million, with notations indicating they were intended for Epstein’s friends, business associates and victims. The spreadsheet, which was created by one of Epstein’s accountants, includes a $35,000 watch that was earmarked for a former Bill Clinton aide; a $71,000 purchase at a Lexus dealership for one of Epstein’s lawyers; and other items, such as lingerie and chocolates, some for teenage girls who later lodged sexual abuse complaints against Epstein and Maxwell. The spreadsheet indicates that Maxwell helped Epstein arrange many of the items...
...the emails demonstrate her deep knowledge of the legal jeopardy he faced and show how she helped him strategize over even the most consequential details.
“Question,” Epstein wrote to Maxwell on May 23, 2008. “Which one do you prefer,,, lewd and lscivious conduct ,, or procuring minors for prostituion.”'
A month later Epstein pleaded guilty to two Florida state charges: felony solicitation of prostitution and procurement of minors to engage in prostitution. He also registered as a sex offender.'

Been wondering why Speaker Johnson put the House into early recess rather than have a vote on the Epstein files.

caught on a hot mic, the infamous James O'Keefe sent in an operative to meet with a senior DoJ official and during the conversation, on tape he told her
the DoJ intended to redact the Rep names in the Epstein files. Interestingly, the DoJ has actually released a statement verifying that this official engaged in the conversation.

Getting harder and harder to distract from the Epstein files but they're still trying. Today's bait, putting a nuclear reactor on the moon.

From Shane Almgren:
"I decided to look into the facilities Ghislaine Maxwell was just from from/to and here's what I found out.
WHERE SHE WAS SERVING HER TIME: Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Tallahassee
FCI is a "low-security federal correctional institute" for women, with a combination of male and female guards. It's got a double-fence with electronic monitoring. Known issues at the facility are severe staffing shortages, poor sanitation and maintenance, rodent and bug infestations, spoiled food, and lots of complaints of staff misconduct including sexual abuse (poor gal!). There's a structured daily schedule with limited movement.
WHERE SHE IS NOW: Federal Prison Camp (FCP) Bryan in Bryan, Texas
FPC is a "minimum-security prison camp" with all-female guards. Nick-named "Club Fed" for its relaxed dormitory-style housing, comfortable amenities, and ample recreational activities, FPC has no perimeter fencing or guard towers. There are few restrictions, loose schedules, free outdoor access, and many of the inmates work jobs offsite.
According to Bureau of Prisons designation policy, sex offenders aren't typically eligible for camps like Bryan unless granted a waiver. Which raises a few questions about how Maxwell ended up there."

Speechless. You just can't make this stuff up. Trump takes another wild step to take eyes off the Epstein fiasco. He's ordered nuclear subs to be positioned off Russia

Seems worthwhile to revisit the timeline and bring The Apprentice in on it. The show first aired in 2004 and it soon became a major source of income for Trump that he wouldn't want jeopardized by Epstein's threats. Now that we've all gotten to know the seedier side of Trump it's become public knowledge that he is fueled by revenge that is not always well orchestrated. There's no doubt that Epstein had receipts and that what he could or would do with them worried Trump. No doubt Epstein was smart enough to recognize the hornet's nest he would stir up with revelations, revelations that would blowback on his own empire. So, ya, I think Epstein made the threats but I don't think he would have followed thru, but Trump was triggered. Triggered enough to contact law enforcement? Nah, never personally, but he could have tipped off a buddy who told a buddy who told a buddy.

The problem with the whole "dropping a dime" thing is that both of them were up to their necks in major criminality and I find it implausible that either of them (no matter how stupid) would go to law enforcement. Because they would know they had no way of controlling whether any investigations they triggered would start looking at them.

Given the murky history of Epstein's finances and Trump's public history I feel pretty confident that both of them were involved in seriously dirty finance.

On the other side of it I find it implausible that not only did Trump not only know about what Epstein was doing to little girls, I also find it implausible given his known proclivities and public statements that he wasn't hip-deep in the same stuff. Yuck.

The other interesting question is who else distanced themselves from Epstein in 2004 and 2005?

Jim: Shane Almgren used to work for Trump at Mar a Lago. He's stuck pretty close to the public facts and certainly Wolff's interviews are pretty juicy tidbits after all these years. This third storyline lines up better with the chronology and is more in line with Trump's persona.

A friend sent this. I dont follow this author…or even vouch for him. But - interesting theory…

https://substack.com/@shanealmgren
.
The Trump team has always alleged that Trump and Epstein’s “falling out” in 2004 was either due to Epstein being a “creep” around Mar A Lago, or Trump “discovering” his BFF was a sexual predator and pedophile.

Both versions allow Trump to come off sounding like he took the moral high ground.
The first explanation sounds believable, the second does not. It’s pretty clear to everyone at this point (who isn’t MAGA) that Trump was well aware of EXACTLY what his buddy was up to.

Then Trump trotted out a brand new explanation this week: that Epstein had “stolen” young women who worked at his spa, which was a rather bizarre way of describing Epstein hiring away Trump’s workers. After repeated unheeded warnings not to poach his ladies, Trump decided that was it and revoked his membership at the club.

But there’s a third explanation that jives perfectly with the 2004 timeline…and sounds way more Trumpian than these semi-chivalrous explanations - a real estate feud. According to Trump biographer Michael Wolff, this is what ACTUALLY happened…(Wolff intervied Epstein over 30 times, totaling 100 hours of recorded conversations, for his trilogy on Trump.)

In 2004, a Palm Beach mansion known as Maison de l’Amitié belonging to a bankrupt nursing home magnate was being auctioned off in a bankruptcy sale. Epstein bid $36 million on the house, and then apparently asked Trump for advice on moving the swimming pool on the property.
Trump then went behind Epstein’s back and bid $41 million, winning the property and closing the deal in 2005. Epstein was furious. He said he knew Trump’s finances well enough to know he didn’t have $40 million - so someone else was probably fronting him the money. Epstein accused him of money laundering for a Russian oligarch.

Thus began the epic feud between 2 filthy rich dudes with no morals having a pissing match over some real estate.

Trump never lived in the new house. He fixed it up and flipped it in 2008 for $95 million to…a Russian oligarch named Dmitry Rybolovlev.
Epstein was so irate at Trump for scoring the massive windfall that he started threatening lawsuits to rat Trump out for what he was sure was a money-laundering scheme.

This next tidbit is not verified, and fact-checking it produced no conclusive results:

According to Epstein, Trump retaliated to the lawsuit threats by going to the police and “dropping the dime” on his pal’s extracurricular hobbies.
If that version of events is accurate, it sounds like the most Trump thing ever.

It was never about Jeffrey being a creepy pedophile. It was about Jeffrey threatening to blow the lid off his questionable business dealings with the Russians.
